The addition of children to the family is a gift from God. Parents in Bible times who wished to show God their gratitude would go to the temple and dedicate their child to the Lord.

Samuel was one of those children and went on to be a great prophet in Israel and the one for whom the books of 1 and 2 Samuel are named.

Jesus also was presented to the Lord. He not only lived a perfect life but now makes His righteousness available to us, that we and our children may also live a life of perfect dependence upon our Heavenly Father.
